The pressure intensity at a point in a fluid is given by 3.92 N/cm

. Find the corresponding height of the fluid, when the fluid is oil of specific gravity 0.9.

Solution:

According to Hydrostatic Law:
Pressure intensity at a point:

P = 3.92 N\/cm^2 = 3.92 × 104 N\/m^2

P = ρgH

3.92 × 10^4 = 0.9 × 1000 × 9.81 × H

{h}={3.92 \×10^{4}}/{0.9 \×1000 \×10}=4.439 {m}

∴ h = 4.44 m
