The atmospheric air at DBT is 20°C. It enters a heating coil which is maintained 50°C. If the air leaves the heating coil at 35°C, then what will be the efficiency of the coil?

Given:

t_3 = 50°C, t_2 = 35°C, t_1 = 15°C

Now,

{F}_{{HC}}={{t}_{3}-{t}_{2}}/{{t}_{3}-{t}_{1}}

{BPF}_{{HC}}={50-35}/{50-20}=0.5=50 \%

Now,
The efficiency of the heating coil

{n}_{{HC}}=1-{B} \.{P} \.{F}_{{HC}}

=1-0.5

\∴\η _{{HC}}=0.5

i.e

50 \%
