A Carnot heat pump is used to maintain a room at a temperature of 27°C, the initial temperature of the room was –4°C. The heat loss from the room is 20 kW. What is the power requirement of the pump?

Q_H=Q_C(T_H/T_C)

=2000(293/269)=2.17

kW = 2

T_H = 20 + 273 = 293 K

T_C = –4 + 273 = 269 K
