Determine the energy (in J) stored by an 8 H inductor, if the current through the inductor is 4 A.

Solution:

L = 8 H, I = 4 A.
Now energy stored in inductor is given by

E=1/2LI^2=1/2×8(4)^2

= (4)^3 = 64 J
