Calculate the phase angle between the voltage and current phasor of a series RL circuit having resistance of 65 Ohms and inductive reactance of 37.53 Ohms when supplied by a frequency of 60 Hz.

Validate

Solution:

\cosϕ=R/√{R^2+X_L^2}

=65/√{65^2+37.53^2}

=65/75=0.866

ϕ = \cos^{ - 1} 0.866

= 30°
Phase angle between voltage and current is 30° i.e. current lag with voltage by 30°.
