Determine the current (in A) through a 60 cm long solenoid when the solenoid has 400 turns and the value of magnetic field at the centre of the solenoid is 6 mT.

Given data.
l = 60 cm ⇒ 0.6 m
β = 6 × 10

^{–3}

T and N = 400
Now

B={µ_0NI}/\l

∴\I={B\l}/{µ_0N}

={6×10^{-3}×0.6}/{4π×10^{-7}×400}

∴ I = 7.16A
