What will be the value of load impedance (in ohms) for transmitting maximum power from the source to load when the source impedance is 8 + j4 ohms?

Solution:

Given,

Z_S = R_S = J

X_S = 8 + J 4

∴R_S = 8

and

X_S = 4

Now

Z_L = ?

According to maximum power transfer.

=Z_L=Z_S*

∴Z_L = 8 - J4 Ω
