Determine the heat (in Joules) dissipated through a resistor of 15 ohms resistance, when 0.5 A of current is flowing through the resistor for 8 seconds.

Solution:

Given data
R = 15 Ω
I = 0.5 A
and t = 8 sec
Now heat dissipated is given by

H = I^2Rt = (0.5)^2 × 15 × 8

H = 0.25 × 120
∴ H = 30J
