The marks scored by Sudeep in three subjects Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, are in the ratio 4 : 5 : 6. Sudeep scored an overall aggregate of 60% in the exam. If the maximum marks for each subject are the same, in how many subjects did Sudeep score more than 70% marks?
Let maximum marks in a subject be 100. Total maximum marks in three subjects = 3 × 100 = 300. Let ratio constant = x Given that, Mathematics : Physics : Chemistry = 4 : 5 : 6 Marks in mathematics = 4x Marks in physics = 5x Marks in chemistry = 6x Total marks = 4x + 5x + 6x = 9x + 6x = 15x. But overall aggregate marks = 60% 60% of 300 = 0.6 × 300 = 180. So, we can say that : 15x = 180 x = x = 12. Marks in mathematics = 4x = 4 × 12 = 48 Marks in physics = 5x = 5 × 12 = 60 Marks in chemistry = 6x = 6 × 12 = 72. All these marks are out of 100 so these can be considered as percentage too. Clearly, Sudeep scored more than 70% marks in Chemistry only. Hence, the correct answer is "One".
