The submerged density or buoyant unit weight isdefined as the submerged weight (${\mathit{W}}_{\mathit{d}}$ ) sub of the soil solids per unit of total volume (V) of the soil mass.
Thus, ${\mathit{\gamma }}_{\mathrm{sub}}=\left({\mathit{W}}_{\mathit{d}}\right)$ sub / V
It is also expressed as, ${\mathit{\gamma }}_{\mathrm{sub}}={\mathit{\gamma }}_{\mathrm{sat}}-{\mathit{\gamma }}_{\mathit{W}}$
Where ${\mathit{\gamma }}_{\mathit{W}}$ is the density of water and ${\mathit{\gamma }}_{\mathrm{sat}}$ is the saturated density of soil.
