A total amount of Rs. 240000 is to be distributed between Ranjit, Vikas and Abdul in such a way that Ranjit gets three times the amount that Vikas gets. Abdul gets Rs. 40,000 less than Ranjit.
How much money does Abdul get?

Validate

Solution:

Now according to question,
3x + 1x + (3x – 40000) = 240,000
∴ 7x – 40000 = 240000
∴ 7x = 280000
∴ x = 40000
∴ Abdul gets = 3(40000) – 40000
=Rs.40000 × 2 = Rs.80000
