Area of the flow,

\A = \b × \d

Wetted Perimeter,

\P = \b + 2 × \d

For the most efficient Rectangular channel, the two important conditions are
1.

\b = 2 × \d

\R={\A}/{\P}={\b × \d}/{\b+2 × \d}

={2 \d^{2}}/{4 \d}

={\d}/{2}={\b}/{4}

\b = 2 \m

⇒\R=\b/4=2/4=0.5
