Raft foundation is perfect when:- ● The soil have a low bearing capacity. ● Load of structure have to be divided over a large area. ● Individual or any other foundation area would approximately cover 50% of the total ground area beneath the structure. ● The column or walls are placed so closely that the individual footing would overlap. ● Stress as soil need to be reduced. ● There is a possibility of differential settlement. ● When soil strata is unpredictable and contain a pockets of compressible soil. ● Basements is to be constructed. ● Any other type of footing is not used advantageously.
