Passing marks $=$ Marks scored by $\mathit{A}+68=0.25\mathit{x}+68$
Passing marks $=$ Marks scored by $\mathit{B}-42=0.50\mathit{x}-42$
$\Rightarrow 0.25\mathit{x}+68=0.50\mathit{x}-42$
$\Rightarrow 68+42=0.50\mathit{x}-0.25\mathit{x}$
$\Rightarrow 110=0.25\mathit{x}$
$\Rightarrow \mathit{x}=110÷0.25$
$\Rightarrow \mathit{x}=440$
