Calculation:
Effective discount for successive discounts:
${\mathit{D}}_{\mathit{e}\mathit{f}\mathit{f}}=25\%+15\%-\left(25\%\times 15\%\right)$
$\Rightarrow {\mathit{D}}_{\mathit{e}\mathit{f}\mathit{f}}=0.25+0.15-\left(0.25\times 0.15\right)$
$\Rightarrow {\mathit{D}}_{\mathit{e}\mathit{f}\mathit{f}}=0.25+0.15-0.0375$

Difference between the single discount and the effective successive discount:
Difference $=40\%-36.25\%$
