p^x = q^y = r^z = k

⇒p=k^{1/x},q=k^{1/y},r=k^{1/z}

q^2= pr

(given)

∴[k^{1/y}]^2=k^{1/x}×k^{1/z}

⇒k^{2/y}=k^{{1/x}+}^{1/z}

comparing both sides

2/y=1/x+1/z

⇒2/y={z+x}/{xz}

⇒2xz=y(x+z)
