In a military camp, there is provision for 250 soldiers which is sufficient for 36 days. After 22 days, 450 new soldiers join the camp. How many days will the provision last after the joining of new soldiers?

Solution:

(1) Let us assume that the provisionlasted for d days after the joining ofnew soldiers.
According to the question,

250 × 36 = 250 × 22 + (250 +450) × d

700d = 9000 – 5500⇒ d = 5
