Solution:

(1)

9cos^2° + 5sin^2°= 6

⇒ 5cos^2°+ 5sin^2°+ 4 cos2°

= 6

⇒5 + 4 cos^2°= 6

⇒ 4 cos^2°= 1

⇒cos°

=1/√2

∴θ = 45°
∴ cotθ= cot 45° = 1
