x^2 +5x +2+ y^2 = 3x +1

⇒

x^2 +2x +1 + y^2 = 0

⇒

(x +1)^2 + y^2 = 0

⇒

x = -1 and y = 0

∴

x^5 - y^3 = (–1)^5 - 0 = -1
