A hollow right circular cylinder of height 16 cm is melted and a sphere is formed. If internal and external radii of the hollow cylinder are 5 cm and 13 cm, then what will be the diameter of the sphere?

Validate

Solution:

(1) Let the radius of the spherebe r cm. Volume of the sphere willremain equal to the volume of thehollow right circular cylinder. So,

π(R^2 – r^2)h = 4/3πr^3

⇒π(13^2- 5 ^2)×16=4/3×π×(r)^3

⇒r ^3=1728 cm

⇒r= 12 cm
