Angle of elevations from the bottom and top of a pole to the top of a building are 60° and 30°, respectively. If distance between bottom of the pole and the building is 50 m then what is the height of the pole?

Validate

Solution:

(1) Let height of pole and buildingare h1 and h2, respectively.

Now, 2tan60 °={h_ 2}/ 50⇒h_2=50√ 3 m

tan30 °={h_2h_1}/50={50√ 3-h_1}/ 50

⇒50 √3 -h_1=50/√3

Hence,

h _1=50√3-{50√3}/3={100√3}/3m
