A stationer buys 9 erasers for ` 12 and sells 11 of them for ` 14. Find out his gain or loss per cent.

Solution:

(3) C.P. of 9 erasers = ₹12
C.P. of 1 eraser = ₹ 12/9 = ₹ 1.33
S.P. of 11 erasers = ₹ 14
S.P. of 1 eraser = ₹ 14/11 =₹ 1.27
Since, S.P. < C.P., the stationer willincur a loss.
Loss = C.P. – S.P

= ₹12 /9-14/11

$= ₹ 6/99
Loss% =[Loss/ C.P.×100]$

=[{6× 9}/ {99× 12}×100 %]

=50/11 %

=4 6/11 %
