Solution:

(1) The number in the square is three times of half of the difference between the numbers in triangular regions around the square. As,

[3 ×{(34–24)/2} = 15], [3 × {(36–16)/2} = 30]; therefore, [X = 3 ×{(50–42)/2} = 12].
