(3) In 1765, with the Treaty of Allahabad,Robert Clive set up the infamousdual system of administrationin Bengal wherein the realpowers were in the hands of theBritish, whereas the administrativeresponsibilities were in the handsof the Nawab of Bengal. WarrenHastings ended this system in1772.
