Deepak goes 12 km south. Then, he turns left and moves 14 km. Then, he turns to the right and moves 14 km. After that, he turns right and goes 16 km. Again, he turns right and goes 16 km. Then, he takes a left turn and moves 2 km. Find out the distance between his starting point and his current position.

On analysing the figure,
P = (12 + 14 – 16) =10 km
B = (2 + 2) = 4 km
According to the Pythagoras theorem,

H^2 = B^2+ P^2

H^2 = (10)^2 + (4)^2

H{^2 = 100 + 16

H =√ 116

H =√{ 2 ×2 ×29}

H = 2 √29

Thus, the distance between startingpoint and ending point is

2 √29

km.
