The cost of levelling a park at the rate of ₹5/m2 is ₹6,750. The park is in the shape of a right-angled triangle. Find the length of its longest side if one of the two other sides is 45 m.

Solution:

(1) Area of park= {Total cost of levelling}/{Cost of levelling per m^2}

=6750/5 = 1350 m^2

Let s be another shorter side of thepark. Then,

1/2×45 × s = 1350 m^2

⇒s = 60 m
Longest side =

√ {60^2 +45^2}

= 75 m
