Find the length of the altitude of a triangle having sides 42 cm, 34 cm and 20 cm, if the length of the base is 42 cm.

Solution:

(3) Semi perimeter

= {42 +34+ 20}/2= 48

cm
Area of triangle

=√ {48(48 -42)(48 -34)(48 -20)}

= 336 cm^2

altitude = 336
⇒Altitude = 16 cm
