(1) Let the total number of airconditioners sold in 2011 be X.
Number of air conditioners sold byHitachi in 2011 = 12% of X
Number of air conditioners sold byLG in 2011 = 8% of X
12% of X - 8% of X = 3456
⇒4% of X = 3456

⇒X = 3456/4× 100 = 86400

Total number of air conditionerssold by Panasonic and Blue Startogether in 2011 = 22% of X + 10%of X = 32% of X = 32% of 86400 =27648
