The weights of Mohan and Meera are in the ratio 7 : 8 and their total weight is 120 kg. After joining a gym, Mohan reduces his weight by 6 kg and the ratio between their weights becomes 5 : 6. So, Meera has reduced her weight by

(2) Let Mohan’s initial weight be 7􀝔kg.
Meera’s initial weight = 8x kgTherefore,
7x + 8x = 120
⇒ x=8
Mohan’s weight = 7 × 8 = 56 kg
Meera’s weight = 8 × 8 = 64 kg
Let Meera reduce her weight by ykg. Thus,

{56-6 }/{64- y }=5/6

⇒6(50) = 5(64 - y)
⇒ 300 = 320 - 5y
⇒ y = 4
Thus, Meera has reduced herweight by 4 kg.
