Solution:

(2) Let AB be the chord and OP and OB are the radii of smaller and larger circles respectively.

In ΔOPB,

\ ( { {AB}}/{2}\ )= {PB}=√{\ {OB}^{2}-\ {OP}^{2}}

=\√{25-9}=4

\ {\ {AB}}/{2}=4 \⇒{AB}=8 \ {cm}
