A water tank can be filled by a tap in 30 minutes and by another tap in 60 minutes. If both the taps are kept open for 5 minutes and then the first tap is closed, how much more time is needed to fill the tank?

Validate

Solution:

(4) Part of the water tank filled in 5 minutes by both taps

=5 (\ {1}/{30}+ {1}/{60} )= {1}/{4}

So, the remaining part is

1- {1}/{4}= {3}/{4}

Time taken by second tap to fill remaining part

= {3}/{4} × 60=45 {minutes}
