A solid right circular cylinder and a solid hemisphere stand on equal bases and have the same height. The ratio of their whole surface areas is

Solution:

(3) Let radius of cylinder and hemisphere = r units
Since height is same as that of hemisphere, height = radius = r units
∴Required Ratio

= (2 \π r^{2}+2 \π r^{2} ) : (2 \πr^{2}+\πr^{2} )

=4 \π r^{2} : 3 \π r^{2}=4 : 3
