The total surface area of a solid right circular cylinder is twice that of a solid sphere. If they have the same radii, the ratio between the volume of the cylinder and that of the sphere is given by

Solution:

(1) According to the question,

2 \π r h+2 \π r^{2}=8 \π r^{2}

⇒ 2 \π r h=6 \π r^{2}

⇒{h}/{r}=3

Now, ratio between their volumes is,

{\π r^{2} h}/{ {4}/{3} πr^{3}}= {3}/{4} ×{h}{r}= {9}/{4}
