Of three numbers, the first number is twice the second and the second is thrice the third number. If the average of these 3 numbers is 20, then the sum of the largest and smallest numbers is

Solution:

(2) Let the third number be a,
Second number will be 3a
And, the first number will be 6a.
Now, average of three numbers is,

{a+3 a+6 a}/{3}=20 ⇒ a=6

Sum of largest and smallest numbers is a + 6a = 7a = 42.
