The equation of a straight line passing through (1, 2) and perpendicular to the line 3x + 4y = 7 is

Solution:

3x + 4y = 7 or

y={-3x}/4+7/4

Compare this equation with y = mx + c

m=-3/4

But for perpendicular line

m_1=-1/m=4/3

Equation of line passing through (1, 2)

(y-y_1)=m(x-x_1)

y-2={4(x-1)}/3

4x - 3y + 2 = 0
