Sita sees her friend standing at a distance of 240 metres from where she is. She increases her speed by 50% and hence takes 20 seconds to reach her.
(i) If she travels at the original speed, how much time will she take?
(ii) What was her original speed?

40 sec; 6 m/sec
24 sec; 10 m/sec
36 sec; 7 m/sec

Validate

Solution:

We know that if we increase the speed by 50% then it takes 20 seconds.
Speed

=240/20=12\m\/\sec

Let original speed be x.
Then

x={100×12}/150=8\m\/\sec

Now the time taken

=240/8=30\sec
