The sides of a rectangle with dimensions 7 cm × 11 cm are joined to form a cylinder with height 11 cm. What is the volume of this cylinder?

Solution:

According to the question, 2πr = 7
⇒

2×22/7×r=7

⇒r={7×7}/{2×22}\cm.

∴ Volume of cylinder

= πr^2h

=22/7×{7×7×7×7}/{2×22×2×22}×11

={7×7×7}/8=42.875 \cu. \cm.
