Sumit and Amit undertook a work for Rs 7200. Sumit alone can do the work in 5 days and Amit alone can do the work in 4 days. If they work together, then what will be the difference (in Rs.) in the amount they receive?

Solution:

Time taken by Sumit = 5 days and by Amit = 4 days
Efficiency

∝ 1/{time}

⇒ Ratio of efficiency of Sumit and Amit =

4 : 5

∴ Difference in amount that they will get =

(5−4)/(5+4) ×7200

7200/9 =Rs. 800
