Let cost price of the machine = Rs. $\mathit{x}$ lakhs
When selling price = Rs. 50 lakhs
⇒ Loss = Rs. $\left(\mathit{x}-50\right)$ lakhs
If selling price = Rs. 60 lakhs
⇒ Profit = Rs. $\left(60-\mathit{x}\right)$ lakhs
According to ques, Profit = 7 × loss
⇒ $\left(60-\mathit{x}\right)=7\times \left(\mathit{x}-50\right)$
⇒ $60-\mathit{x}=7\mathit{x}-350$
⇒ $7\mathit{x}+\mathit{x}=350+60=410$
⇒ $\mathit{x}=\frac{410}{8}=$ Rs 51.25 lakhs
