If two successive discounts of 25% and 30% are given, then what will be the ratio of marked price to selling price?

Solution:

Let marked price = Rs. 100x Price after 1st discount of 25% =

100x − 25 /100 ×100x = Rs. 75x

Selling Price after 2nd discount of 30% =

75x − 30 /100 × 75x = Rs. 52.5x

⇒ Ratio of marked price to selling price =

{100x}/{52.5x}

1000/525 = 40 : 21
