the cost price = Rs.$100\mathit{x}$
=> Selling price = $100\mathit{x}+\frac{60}{100}\times 100\mathit{x}=\mathit{R}\mathit{s}.160\mathit{x}$ ----------------(i)
Also, Marked price = Rs. 6000 and discount % = 20%
⇒ Selling price = $6000-\frac{20}{100}\times 6000$ $=6000-1200=\mathit{R}\mathit{s}.4800$------------(ii)
From equations (i) and (ii), we get :
⇒ $160\mathit{x}=4800$
⇒ $\mathit{x}=\frac{4800}{160}=30$
∴ Cost prise = 100 × 30 = Rs. 3000
