In ∆UVW measure of angle V is 90°. If tanU = 12/5, and UV = 10cm, then what is the length (in cm) of side VW?

Solution:

Given :

\tanU = 12/5

Also,

\tanU={VW}/{UV}=12/5

Let VW = 12x cm and UV = 5x cm
According to ques, ⇒

5x = 10

⇒

x =10/ 5 = 2

∴ VW =

12×2=24
