Solution:

Let the quantity sold at

10 \%

loss be

x \; {kg}

.
According to the question,

(840-x) × \;{125}/{100}+x × \;{90}/{100}=840 × \;{115}/{100}

⇒ \;\; 1050-125 x+0.9 x=966

⇒ \;\; 0.35 x=84

∴ \;\; x=\;{8400}/{35}=240 {kg} .
