Gopala was the founder of the Pala Dynasty in $750\mathrm{AD}$. He reigned from 750-770 AD. He built the monastery at Odantapuri, Bihar. Dharmapala was the most prominent ruler of the dynasty. He founded the Vikramshila University at Bhagalpur, Bihar. The Pala period is also known as a 'Golden Era' in Bengali history.
