The musician Bismillah Khan was associated with Shehnai. He was born as Qamaruddin Khan on March 24, 1916 in a traditional Muslim family of musicians in Bihar. He was awarded Bharat Ratna in 2001. He was also known as "the greatest exponent of the Shehnai".
