Tiny pores present on the surface of leaves are known as stomata. Each stomatal opening is surrounded by two specialised epidermal cells called as the guard cells. Stomatal opening and closure help in the gaseous exchange between the plant and surrounding. In all green plants, stomata are found in the epidermis of leaves, stems and other parts.
