Dhyan Chand's birth anniversary is celebrated as National Sports Day every year on August 29. He was renowned hockey player in the world. He is known as The Wizard or The Magician of Hockey for his superb ball control. The Government of India awarded Chand India's third highest civilian honour of Padma Bhushan in 1956.
