What is the radius of the circle whose area is equal to the sum of the areas of two circles whose radii are

15 {\cm}

and

8{\cm}

Solution:

Let the radius of required circle = r cm

r_{1}=15 {\cm}, r_{2}=8 {\cm}

According tot he question,
Area of required circle

=

Sum of areas of two circles
⇒

\πr^{2}=\πr_{1}^{2}+\πr_{2}^{2}

⇒

\πr^{2}=\π[(15)^{2}+(8)^{2}]

⇒

r^{2}=225+64=289

∴

r=\√{289}=17 {\cm}
