Article-93 of the Constitution of India provides that the Lok Sabha must have a Speaker and a Deputy Speaker. Both of them are elected by the members of Lok Sabha. Speaker is responsible for the proper functioning of the-house. In the absence of Speaker, his responsibilities are performed by a Deputy Speaker.
