Simplify the following expression.

5 \;{1}/{3} ÷[7-3 ÷(1-\;{1}/{4}) × \;{2}/{3}+1]

-3 ÷ 1+2

Solution:

5 \;{1}/{3} ÷[7-3 ÷(1-\;{1}/{4}) × \;{2}/{3}+1]

=\;{16}/{3} ÷[7-3 ÷(\;{4-1}/{4}) × \;{2}/{3}+1]-3+2

=\;{16}/{3} ÷[7-3 ÷ \;{3}/{4} × \;{2}/{3}+1]-1

=\;{16}/{3} ÷[7-3 × \;{4}/{3} × \;{2}/{3}+1]-1

=\;{16}/{3} ÷[7-\;{8}/{3}+1]-1

=\;{16}/{3} ÷[\;{21-8+3}/{3}]-1=\;{16}/{3} ÷ \;{16}/{3}-1

=\;{16}/{3} × \;{3}/{16}-1=1-1=0
